Matching Amtico Spacia LVT for a Bedroom in Heston

Replacing the Old Bedroom Carpet with Amtico LVT

The first day of the project began with the removal of the existing bedroom carpet. The carpet was uplifted and removed for disposal, exposing the floor underneath and allowing the installation team to assess what preparation would be required.

The existing grippers and nails were then removed from around the room. This created a clear working area for the subfloor preparation and ensured that the new Glue Down LVT would not be installed over remnants of the previous carpet installation.

Once the old flooring and associated materials had been removed, attention turned to preparing the floor itself.

The areas where feather finish had been applied were carefully sanded to remove remaining irregularities and produce a smooth surface. The entire room was then thoroughly cleaned before the Amtico LVT installation began.

This stage was particularly important because the new flooring was to be installed using a Glue Down system. A clean, suitably prepared surface provides the necessary foundation for the adhesive and LVT installation.

Connecting the Bedroom to the Existing Hallway LVT

One of the most detailed aspects of this project was the connection between the bedroom and the existing hallway.

Flavio did not want a separate threshold between the two areas. Instead, EXEN Flooring removed some of the existing Amtico LVT from the hallway and continued the new matching LVT into the bedroom.

This allowed the flooring to flow directly from the hallway into the bedroom rather than creating a separate transition between the two areas.

Because the same Amtico series had been sourced, the new bedroom flooring could be integrated with the existing hallway installation. This approach also avoided introducing an unnecessary threshold at the doorway.

Installing the 16m² Amtico Spacia LVT

Once the floor had been fully prepared, the new 16m² Amtico Spacia Glue Down LVT was installed in the bedroom.

The installation was planned around the existing hallway flooring so that the transition could be completed without an additional threshold. Careful attention was given to the doorway and the connection between the old and new sections of LVT.

The result was a continuous flooring design from the hallway into the bedroom, maintaining the same flooring style that had already been used throughout the rest of Flavio's flat.

Matching the Existing Silicone Finish

Flavio also requested a specific finishing detail to ensure the new bedroom flooring matched the other rooms.

Although silicone is not always requested by customers following a Glue Down LVT installation, the existing rooms in Flavio's flat had been finished with silicone. He therefore asked EXEN Flooring to use the same finishing approach in the newly installed bedroom.

Silicone was applied around the new bedroom installation as requested, helping maintain consistency with the existing flooring throughout the property.

The complete project was finished in two days, including the uplift and disposal of the old carpet, removal of grippers and nails, feather-finish preparation, sanding, cleaning, installation of the matching Amtico Spacia LVT and final silicone finishing.

The new bedroom flooring now connects directly with the existing hallway LVT without a separate threshold, while the matching Amtico series keeps the flooring consistent with the rest of the flat.
